Worker’s Memorial Day Roanoke Event

Join union members, labor leaders, elected officials and allies as we gather at Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in downtown Roanoke for a Workers Memorial Day event, to remember those who have died and suffered illnesses or injuries on the job—including Virginians—in the past year.

The event will feature speakers sharing how workers and the labor movement won safety protections over time by demanding the government hold corporations accountable to protect workers on the job and organizing for safer working conditions. Speakers will also highlight how hard-won progress is at serious risk as President Trump threatens to cut staff, defund or outright eliminate federal job safety agencies, which would have critical effects on Virginia’s funding and our working people
